Pass by remote villages inaccessible by road, exotic wildlife and ancient palaces while aboard a luxury river cruise ship sailing up the Ganges River. Uniworld Boutique River Cruises recently announced their new “India’s Golden Triangle and The Sacred Ganges” itinerary, set to debut in January 2016.

The 12-night itinerary starts in New Delhi and ends in Kolkata with seven nights aboard the all-suite Ganges Voyager II. Groups spend five nights on land in upscale Oberoi Hotels in New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.

“India is one of the world’s most complex, colorful and exotic destinations,” said Guy Young, president of Uniworld. “To experience a 5,000-year-old civilization first-hand and to explore its spiritual heartland, all while staying at some of the world’s most spectacular hotels and sailing onboard our new all-suite ship, is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our well-traveled guests.”

The land portion of the tour explores India’s “Golden Triangle,” which includes the three colorful and historic cities of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Highlights include the magnificent Taj Mahal, the fortress of Rajasthan’s Pink City and, Delhi’s Red Fort and Agra Fort.

Participants will also stop at Mother Teresa’s tomb and former home in Kolkata, a Vedic temple in Mayapur and Humayun’s Tomb. Cruise passengers will be able to spot a variety of wildlife from the ship, including freshwater dolphins, parrots and other colorful creatures.

The 56-guest Ganges Voyager II features French balconies, sitting areas, roomy bathrooms and flat-screen televisions. At the ship’s public areas, guests can enjoy the Governor’s Lounge’s onboard entertainment, the observation deck’s 360-degree views, a spa and the East India Restaurant, which offers both Indian and Western cuisine.
