Hornblower Charts New Course for Niagara Falls Cruises

NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario — Hornblower Niagara Cruises was set to sail this spring on its inaugural season of boat tours to Niagara Falls from its Canadian base in Niagara Gorge after two years of planning.

After an open procurement process, the Niagara Parks Commission awarded Hornblower Niagara Cruises a 30-year contract in February 2012 to serve as its official boat tour operator. Hornblower is the only company on the Canadian side of the Niagara River permitted to operate boat tours of the falls.

Hornblower’s two custom-designed 700-passenger catamarans offer views of the three waterfalls — the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and Horseshoe Falls — that make up “The Falls.” Hornblower will also operate a 150-passenger jet boat, which will be used for private charters and special events.

Hornblower’s cruise options include sightseeing cruises that depart every 15 minutes throughout the day, a sunset cocktail cruise, a 30-minute illumination cruise in the evening and a 30-minute fireworks cruise
