Tishomingo
Known mainly as an outdoor destination in Mississippi, the town of Tishomingo has a surprising musical past that is still alive and bumping. The town was the inspiration for an entire style of blues known as the Tishomingo Blues and is home to the stunning vocals of Lisa Lambert and her bluegrass band.
“Tishomingo County is blessed with a lot of scenic beauty, including a waterfall near J.P. Coleman State Park, walking trails in Tishomingo State Park, unique rock formations, caves, wild flowers and more,” said Theresa Cutshall, administrative assistant for the Tishomingo County Development Foundation and administrator for Tishomingo County Tourism, who noted that the dulcimer festivals at Tishomingo State Park and J.P. Coleman State Park are a must-visit for groups. “If groups like the bluegrass type, the dulcimer festivals at each state park would be fun.”
