Happy-Themed Itinerary Introduced in Shreveport-Bossier

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, La. – Groups can experience for themselves why a study named Shreveport-Bossier the third happiest city in the world with a new itinerary, “Louisiana IS Happy.” “The Wall Street Journal” released its Market Watch study about the city. The study also deemed Louisiana the happiest state in the country.

In response, the Louisiana Office of Tourism and the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau created a new group tour itinerary to showcase the area’s people, cultures and attractions. Groups can add stops at neighboring cities, such as Houma, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, Alexandria and Baton Rouge.

The first stop takes groups to the Barksdale Global Power Museum for a look at the site’s military involvement from World War I to present. Exhibits display uniforms, dioramas, barracks and 25 aircrafts and vehicles.

Next, groups shop at the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets located on the Red River. The parched can then appreciate Shreveport’s first local brewery since Prohibition at Great Raft Brewery.

For a more global attraction, participants can view art spanning four centuries from America and Europe at the R. W. Norton Art Gallery. After this cultural stop, a step-on guide will entertain and teach groups about Shreveport-Bossier’s history on a driving tour of downtown.

The tour stops at the oldest church in Shreveport, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, before ending with some classic Cajun cuisine at Ralph and Kacoos.
