Sponsored Content

Calling all foodies! Indulge your sweet (and savory) tooth with some tasty treats.  This tour is designed for groups to sample, shop, learn and enjoy the foods of the local Amish culture. You will get a behind-the-scenes tour of a giant bulk food store plus shop ‘where the Amish shop,’ then visit an Amish bakery,  cheese factory and noodle maker just to name a few of the scrumptious, mouth-watering eats and treats made in the area. Don’t miss the chance to ‘twist your morning away’ by making your own hand-rolled jumbo soft pretzel; and delight in the story of the Amish fried pie.

Day One:

Arrive in Shipshewana & Meet your Step On Guide

Today, enjoy making your own pretzels at Ben’s Pretzels, founded by Ben and Elizabeth Miller, an Amish family who spent years perfecting the Amish dough recipe that makes a perfect soft pretzel. Your group will hear Ben’s amazing story then twist and roll your own tasty treat.

Next shop where the Amish shop at E&S Bulk Foods! This Amish-owned largest bulk food store features everything a foodie desires at rock bottom prices. From organic to fresh baked, spices and cooking supplies, snack and brand name items, your foodie shopping experience is a pleasure. While here you’ll also hear and see some group exclusive behind-the-scenes amazing facts about the warehousing and distribution of this giant store plus insider’s insights of the in-store bakery, noodle and pizza making departments.

You’ll be hungry so it’s time to munch on a free sample of popcorn at the cozy country Yoders Popcorn Shop filled with the aroma of freshly popped popcorn before you travel to Carolyn’s Kitchens for 20 flavors of homemade jams, still made in Carolyn’s own Amish kitchen – all with NO sugar or artificial sweeteners added!

Next travel to Cook’s Bison Ranch for a covered wagon ride on this family’s farm to pet and feed bison then enjoy a mouth-watering chuckwagon Bison Buffet Dinner.

Day Two:

After your deluxe hotel breakfast, make your way to sample traditional Amish cheese and watch it being crafted at Heritage Ridge Creamery. Then meet the Amish fried pie family in their home shop with delicious flavor options.

Continue off the beaten path in the country with uniquely favorite foodie stops such as Dutch Country Market, home to Katie’s Homemade Noodles. In addition to noodles, find all-natural, unpasteurized local honey plus jellybeans, saltwater taffy, and many other hard-to-find top-quality snacks.

Got milk? A stop at the Stutzman Amish Dairy farm is an adventure to remember where you can get up close and personal with a favorite farm animal. Watch daily milkings from the comforts of a viewing room and sample one of the many award-winning flavors of milk.

For a delicious box lunch meal including luscious cupcakes with several farm-to-table choices curated by Chef Shawna at Shawna Rae’s Bakery. Then, decorate your own delicious homemade cookie.

Menno-Hof offers visitors accurate information through immersive multimedia presentations and hands-on displays about the faith and life of the Amish and Mennonites and religious tradition.

For dinner, step inside an Amish home for the local favorite Haystack meal, an iconic favorite made famous among the Shipshewana Amish. Following your tasty meal, mix your own jar of Amish peanut butter.

Day Three:

Before departing the area, finish your local crafted journey at the Amish Rag Rug Weavers featuring demonstrations of rug weaving while enjoying delicious fresh Whoppie pies and lemonade. Depending on the season, catch Lorene canning meats and other home-grown fruits and veggies in her country kitchen.
