Frank Lloyd Wright sites in Oak Park

Courtesy Visit Oak Park

Chicago is renowned for its architecture, and one of the world’s most renowned architects called the Chicago suburb of Oak Park, Illinois, home for the first 20 years of his career.

Frank Lloyd Wright built his home in 1889 in Oak Park, Illinois. Eleven years later, he added a studio to the house. It was in this studio that Wright and his associates developed the famous Prairie Style of architecture and designed 125 structures, including the famous Frederick C. Robie House and the Unity Temple.

Daily tours of Wright’s home and studio are available, and the Unity Temple, also in Oak Park, is open daily to the public for tours. Groups can also tour Wright’s 1910 Robie House in Chicago — considered one of the most important buildings in American architecture — Thursday through Monday.
