Little Rock has a big arts scene

In Little Rock, museum galleries meet performing arts and more at the Arkansas Arts Center.

The collections at the arts center have two main areas of focus. The first, American and European works on paper, includes pieces from the Renaissance to the present. Visitors can see work by Cezanne, van Gogh, Pollock, O’Keeffe, Rembrandt and Rubens.

The second area is contemporary objects in craft media and includes turned wood objects, ceramics, studio glass, metalwork and jewelry.

In addition to the galleries, the arts center has a series of rotating exhibitions. The museum also features a series of art classes and workshops for visiting groups, along with a library, a restaurant and a museum shop where visitors can buy books, gifts, jewelry and artwork by regional artists.

The arts center complements its visual arts with Children’s Theater, a resident
drama company that produces six family-oriented shows each year.
