PADUCAH, Kentucky – Guests can create a work of fiber art, listen to a river captain’s stories and sample authentic soul food in Paducah, Kentucky. These varied group experiences enrich a visit as part of Paducah CVB’s Signature Experiences.
Signature Experiences:
- River Discovery Center: On the “Highway of Heritage” tour with the River Discovery Center, groups will learn about America’s waterways and how they shaped the country’s past and present. A river captain leads the 90-minute tours with stories from his or her personal experience. Guests can add-on a boxed meal, dinner, musicians and a gift bag.
- Yeiser Art Center: The center hosts two tours, including “The Art of Creating Community” walking tour of Paducah’s floodwall murals. For a more interactive activity, guests can also choose “A Creative Palate” at the Yeiser Art Center where groups take a hands-on painting class.
- Hotel Metropolitan: This historic hotel served as an African American hotel during segregation. “Ms. Maggie’s Memories” relives that heritage with a 45- to 90-minute guided tour and authentic soul food tasting. Groups can add a lunch, dinner or entertainer.
- National Quilt Museum: Guests can go from looking at some of the most acclaimed fiber art in the world to trying their hand at a block of quilt at the National Quilt Museum’s “A Creative Stitch.” The museum’s classroom experience goes behind-the-scenes on a VIP tour to create a custom block of quilt. The experience lasts from 90 to 120 minutes.
- Lloyd Tilghman House and Civil War Museum: Guided tours with a retired Air Force colonel take place at Lloyd Tilghman House and Civil War Museum’s “Paducah’s Untold Civil War Story.” The 45-minute tour relates some of Paducah’s important influence on the outcome of the Civil War.
