Spring brings a series of celebrations to the Toledo Zoo, which is highlighting flight in 2014. Numerous special events commemorate spring weather and airborne animals.

• Spring Alive: Fairy Tales, Fables and Flowers — The garden show will take place at the Nairobi Pavilion February 27 through March 2 and will feature large floral displays, cooking demonstrations and vendors from around the Toledo area.

• Penguin Beach — On May 23, the zoo debuts its new Penguin Beach, where visitors can watch those birds of the Antarctic “fly” underwater.

• Flamingo Arrival — Accompanying the new penguin exhibit on May 23 is the arrival of a flock of flamingos, a family of Caribbean birds that will live at the zoo year-round.
