HOUSTON — The Alley Theatre will perform its 2014-2015 season at the University of Houston’s Wortham Theatre while extensive renovations are being done to its 46-year-old downtown theater.
The $46.5 million renovation, which begins in July and is scheduled to be completed by fall 2015, will include fully modernizing the existing building, including the 824-seat Hubbard Stage and lobbies; the cleaning of the concrete building exterior; and improvements in infrastructure that will result in a more energy-efficient building.
The Wortham Theatre is a 565-seat venue whose proscenium opening and stage area closely resemble most Broadway theaters.
