Culinary destinations for groups

Santa Rosa, California

Food TV sensation Guy Fieri got his start as a restaurateur in Santa Rosa, California. Brad Calkins, executive director of the Santa Rosa Convent ion and Visitors Bureau, said that Fieri’s restaurants, Tex Wasabi’s and Johnny Garlic’s, are very accessible to visitors.

“We get individual travelers asking about Guy’s restaurants all the time, but I’ve never had a group request to do that,” he said. “But it’s not that difficult to get in at all, except for maybe on a Saturday night at seven or eight o’clock. And Johnny Garlic’s has a room for groups.”

At Fieri’s establishments and other restaurants in the area, groups will get a California approach to cuisine with locally produced ingredients and Sonoma wines. And for a more affordable gourmet experience, Calkins recommends that groups visit one of several area breakfast and lunch spots opened by well-known local chefs.
