Experience Europe through the eyes of Mozart, Beethoven and other giants of classical music. In Mozart’s Footsteps, a tour operator specializing in European music-themed trips, recently announced a new 2013 Music Lovers Trip with just that objective.
The itinerary features musical capitals of Europe, such as Salzburg, Vienna and Prague. Groups on the May 24 to June 2 trip will learn about the destinations and their connection to various musicians with local guides and a professor of music from the University of North Carolina.
In Salzburg, groups will visit Mozart’s childhood home with a walking tour, two Mozart museums and the Sound of Music Tour. Vienna, a hub for many influential musicians, will offer stops at the Vienna State Opera House, a walking tour of Beethoven’s Heilgenstadt, an orchestral concert and performance of Mozart’s “Die Fledermaus.” At Vienna’s Central and St. Mark’s Cemeteries, the group will also see the graves of Beethoven, Brahams, Mozart and other music geniuses.
Three optional days in Prague focus on Dvorak and his musical contributions with a walking tour, the Antonin Dvorak Museum and additional music performances.
