We asked our staff “What’s your most memorable outdoor adventure?” Check out which outdoor experiences were a breath of fresh air, in this month’s Staff Sound-Off.
Cruising on the Mekong River in Vietnam. I’ve done outdoor things that were more strenuous, but the Mekong is an outdoor setting unlike any other I’ve encountered. Fishermen pass by in small crafts that haven’t changed in 50 years, and the sun melts into the horizon every night. A sunset is an event you cannot turn away from. You feel like you are a million miles from home.

I’ve had a lot but would have to say my hot air balloon ride. I loved it!
— Telisa Rech, Advertising Sales Manager
Skiing at Keystone, Colorado, or whitewater rafting in West Virginia.
— Sarah Sechrist, Controller
My most memorable outdoor adventure was probably whitewater rafting on the Payette River in Idaho. It was my first time whitewater rafting, and I was a little nervous, but it ended up being so fun and all the surrounding nature was so beautiful.
— Rachel Crick, Staff Writer
Hiking to Hanging Lake in Colorado with our church camp group. It is still the most beautiful and pristine little lake I’ve ever seen.
— Donia Simmons, Creative Director
Definitely hiking the Narrows at Zion National Park. We didn’t have much time to do it, but that was an awesome experience.
— Kyle Anderson, VP, Sales & Marketing
Getting engaged while stargazing or doing a lantern tour through Mammoth Cave.
— Ashley Ricks, Graphic Designer & Circulation Manager
It’s hard to beat trekking through the desert at Wadi Rum in Jordan. Sunset paints brilliant hues on the sand and otherworldly rock formations, and the local Bedouin guides add their signature authenticity and culture to the experience. It’s even better if you manage to stay in one of the Bedouin camps overnight.
