“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” starring Ben Stiller and Kristen Wiig. It includes incredible scenes shot in Iceland, the North Atlantic and Afghanistan (or someplace representing Afghanistan) and has a wonderful soundtrack.

“Little Women”! Amy travels with Aunt March to Europe. I am also a fan of “Amelie” and “A Walk in the Clouds.”

“The Grand Budapest Hotel” or “Howl’s Moving Castle”

It’s not a classic travel movie, but I love “Ocean’s 12.” The crew’s hijinks take them on a delightful romp around Europe.

Into the Wild (2007) — A poignant, true story of a man who abandons modern life to backpack across America and ending in the wilderness of Alaska. I admired the kindness that strangers bestowed upon him and how he embraced discomfort and found fulfillment not in possessions, but in the solitude of nature. While I’m slightly more partial to hot showers and round-trip tickets, this movie reminds me that the heart of travel isn’t just movement — it’s meaning. And sometimes, the most radical thing you can do is leave everything behind and go.
