SALEM, Ohio — Group travel is built on relationships, and increasingly, that includes social media. The Group Travel Family is busy helping build those relationships between the travel industry and travel planners with the outreach of its YouTube channel.
The channel was developed last year to deliver destination and travel content to group travel leaders. That outreach has resulted in 85,000 video views by travel planners nationwide.
“The Group Travel Family holds seven major group travel conferences a year, and we realized that a lot of great information was being delivered, but only to the delegates in attendance,” said Joe Cappuzzello, president of The Group Travel Family. “That led us to develop the informational videos and build a YouTube channel.”
Informational videos in the form of interviews are two to three minutes long and are online 24/7 for all groups to view.
To date, more than 15,000 travel planners have viewed the videos, and reports are that the content has prompted many discussions.
Educational seminars, keynote addresses and motivational presentations are also included on The Group Travel Family YouTube channel; they run around 30 minutes in viewing time. The Group Travel Family YouTube channel adds videos after each travel conference it holds. The company projects it will tally 100,000 video views by the end of the year.
“It is our goal to deliver destination content to travel groups year round, and online is the way to build group travel,” Cappuzzello said.
The Group Travel Family YouTube channel includes videos from the Select Traveler Conference, the Going On Faith Conference, the African American Travel Conference, Boomers In Groups, the Small Market Meetings Conference and TravelTalks Meetings.
