Staff Sound-Off: Getaway Destination
We asked our staff “Which would you pick for your next getaway — beach, lake, mountains, desert or city?” Check out our destination picks in this month’s Staff Sound-Off.
I’m going with a beach. We do fairly active vacations as a rule, and we’ve been discussing something more relaxing ““ like a beach. It’s been a few years since we did that.
— Mac Lacy, Publisher
You can’t beat a lake with beautiful scenery. I will choose that every single time.
— Sarah Sechrist, Controller
Probably the desert, because I’ve never been before, and I’d really like to see all the iconic sights of the American Southwest. Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon are all on my travel bucket list.
— Rachel Crick, Staff Writer
Mountains! I really want to take the family to Yellowstone and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, soon. I vacationed there as a child, and it was stunning. Zion and Arches National Park are also on our radar.
— Donia Simmons, Creative Director
The beach, because I like to have relaxing vacations.
— Kyle Anderson, VP, Sales & Marketing
The city for sure! There’s so much to explore.
— Ashley Ricks, Graphic Designer & Circulation Manager
If it’s a family vacation, we’re probably choosing the beach — my kids love to swim and are right at home in the waves. But when it’s just my wife and me, we usually sneak away to the mountains.
— Brian Jewell, VP & Executive Editor
