Atlantic City Offers Growing Group Menu

SALEM, Ohio — Groups are rediscovering Atlantic City, the East Coast’s original place to play. Travel planners are reporting that with championship golf courses, nationally known entertainers, vibrant nightlife, the latest casino games and more than 100 outlet stores, Atlantic City is fast becoming a hit with their travelers.

A new effort has been organized to serve and increase the group travel market visiting Atlantic City. Meet AC will become a familiar resource to groups as they reach out and invite travel clubs and groups to Atlantic City. Heather Colache, leisure group sales manager of Meet AC, is spearheading the group market rollout.

Atlantic City is on the move with group-friendly attractions like Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville entertainment complex at Resorts Casino, featuring the Margaritaville Restaurant, the LandShark Bar and Grill, the 5 o’Clock Somewhere Casino Bar, the Margaritaville Coffee Shop and retail shops.

“Groups love Jimmy Buffett and a cheeseburger in paradise,” said Jennifer Ferguson of The Group Travel Family. “These changes resulted in Resorts Casino Hotel transforming into a destination appealing to visitors yearning for an island adventure.”

Bass Pro Shop, a full city block of entertainment for the whole group, is slated to open this spring, complete with an aquarium and a fish-themed bowling alley.

Many groups love shopping, and it’s tax-free in Atlantic City. Tanger Outlets’ The Walk has more than 100 retail establishments, including Pandora, Coach, Michael Kors, Guess, and Chico’s, and these, along with dozens more, are always a hit for visiting groups.

For travelers who like to be entertained, Atlantic City offers a bevy of nightlife options. Country and rock music, rodeos, boxing and midget car racing all take place under the bright lights at Atlantic City’s casino properties and at Historic Boardwalk Hall. When the sun goes down, the action is just heating up as numerous nightclubs, such as Mixx at Borgata, Dusk at Caesars, Boogie Nights at Tropicana, Haven at the Golden Nugget and The Pool at Harrah’s, offer patrons the opportunity to dance the night away.

When your group visits Atlantic City, make sure they are hungry because the culinary menu is a delightfully tasty mix of gourmet restaurants run by internationally acclaimed chefs. Atlantic City offers many choices of food styles and price points that are sure to please any group. Dishes from all ethnic backgrounds, such as Mexican, American, Italian, Vietnamese, Asian, Indian, Southern, Cuban, and Mediterranean, can be found at dozens of restaurants throughout Atlantic City and along the Boardwalk.
