Bucket List Itinerary: Snow-Covered Natural Wonders in Yellowstone
Explore the nation’s first national park by snowcoach for a winter wonderland full of majestic wildlife and otherworldly geologic landscapes on the “Wonderland: Yellowstone in Winter” tour. Created by Tauck as one of its Culturious itineraries, the nine-day tour immerses groups in Yellowstone with a tour crafted in partnership between Tauck and Ken Burns.
“You’ve never really seen Yellowstone until you’ve been there in winter,” said Dayton Duncan, colleague of Ken Burns who aided in creating the tour. “Once a snowcoach takes you into the interior, you have this incredible place pretty much to yourself.”
The park in winter makes Yellowstone’s world famous geologic features even more spectacular as the gurgling mud pots and steaming hot springs stand out against the white world. Waterfalls partially frozen into ice bridges and snowy scenery ensure memories that few can boast of the popular park.
Participants meet an award-winning wildlife cinematographer for insight into the park’s iconic species. Winter helps wildlife watching efforts, so groups can more easily spy bison, elk, wolves and bighorn sheep wandering across the snow-covered valleys.
Tauck designed the Culturious trip for active, boomer-age travelers seeking a smaller group with an average of 21 guests.
