A few weeks ago, our company celebrated a milestone — the 100th episode of our podcast Gather and Go.
This occasion was an especially big deal for me. The podcast has been a big part of my life since we launched it four years ago. In the beginning, my understanding of how to produce, engineer and host a podcast was fuzzy at best. But I learned a lot from our early episodes, and the show quickly found an audience.
It’s been a thrill to interview 100 amazing guests, some of whom I never dreamed would accept my invitations. Even more thrilling has been meeting many of you who tell me you listen to and enjoy the show. That’s really gratifying.
Still, I know a lot of people in our magazine audience haven’t yet taken the time to listen. So, if you’re wondering whether it’s worth the time, let me suggest some reasons to check it out.
You enjoy smart people.
Spending time with smart people can make you feel smarter, too, and on Gather and Go, we bring you some of the most insightful, creative and innovative people from around the tourism industry. Memorable guests include travel TV luminaries such as Andrew Zimmern and Peter Greenberg; adventure travel pioneer Bruce Poon Tip; and thought leaders doing important work in cultural travel, sustainability and more.
You want to stay up to date.
As a group travel planner and leader, you have a lot going on, and you likely don’t have time to read up on all the latest news in the travel industry. On Gather and Go, we have you covered. Each episode features a short segment called “Travel News You May Have Missed,” where we highlight an interesting development in the travel and tourism world that likely hasn’t landed on your radar.
You need some inspiration.
Running a group travel organization is no small feat, and sometimes it can be overwhelming. But hearing other people’s stories of success can help inspire you to write your own. On the podcast, we tell lots of those stories, highlighting travel entrepreneurs just like you who have found their place in niches ranging from student groups to surfing tours, train trips and alcohol-free adventures. You’ll come away energized and empowered.
You’re looking for help.
Sometimes growing travel organizations hit business roadblocks that can inhibit their progress, and learning from experts outside of tourism can help solve those problems. Some of my favorite podcast episodes have featured experts in areas such as marketing, branding, communications, corporate finance, organizational leadership, photography and video production. These experts offer advice and solutions that might help you break up an important logjam.
You want to grow.
Not every group travel leader wants to grow their program, and that’s OK. But of those who do, Gather and Go is essential listening. Our catalog includes numerous episodes with experts in social media, marketing, sales and other topics that will help you scale your organization, along with numerous success stories from entrepreneurs who have launched, scaled and sold travel businesses. If you’re in growth mode, these are the people you want to hear from.
