Frick Art and Historical Center Expands

PITTSBURGH– The Frick Art and Historical Center, an established Pittsburgh museum, has had a facelift with a two-year expansion and renovation project.

Established by Helen Clay Frick, a wealthy Pittsburgh philanthropist, to preserve her family estate and art collection, the Frick opened to the public in 1990. The original building was complemented by a new cafe in 1994 and the Car and Carriage museum in 1997.

Another round of renovations and expansions was recently undertaken to enhance the visitor experience. A new orientation center opened in the summer of 2014, providing a centralized ticketing area for tours and programs, a new museum store and a learning room with information about Pittsburgh and Frick family history, fine and decorative arts, and cars and carriages.

This year, the organization expanded its Car and Carriage Museum, which includes all-new exhibition galleries, educational spaces and a community center.
