GRANBURY, Texas — Groups have found a new destination for the perfect hub-and-spoke tour in Texas, the hidden gem of Granbury, 30 minutes from Fort Worth.
The Granbury Convention and Visitors Bureau is working with the Group Travel Family in reaching travel groups nationwide with the invitation to make Granbury a tour destination. The combination of publicity and getting the word out to visit Granbury has been rewarding, with more tourism-related visits to the town known as “Where Texas History Lives.”
Groups visiting Granbury often set up meeting space at the Granbury Resort Conference Center, a facility adjacent to white-sand beaches and a wraparound boardwalk. The Hilton Garden Inn is one lodging option that is in walking distance from the center.
A true taste of Texas can be found at the Rio Bravos Texas Music Dance Hall, which carries on the Texas dance hall tradition.
Two other local entertainment attractions are the 1886 Opera House, which is slated to reopen in November after undergoing a major renovation, and the Bravos Drive-In, one of only 10 drive-ins left in all of Texas.
The area is home to various local wineries, to which the CVB can arrange tours, and Granbury is home to a historic square for shopping. A city trolley makes group visits easy, affordable and enjoyable.
The Hood County Jail and Museum is complete with an 1885 cellblock and a hanging tower. The museum also has exhibits and artifacts about the history of Granbury and Hood County.
