COLUMBUS, Ohio — Internationally recognized British light artist Bruce Munro will bring his third U.S. exhibit to the Franklin Park Conservatory Sept. 25, 2013, through Feb. 8, 2014.

“Light” will feature 10 large-scale installations along with a collection of illuminated small-scale artwork throughout the conservatory’s indoor, climate-themed biomes and outdoor courtyards.

New work being introduced at Franklin Park Conservatory includes a simulated thunderstorm using radio-controlled light tubes in the 9,000-square-foot tropical Pacific Island Water Garden and “Chindi,” which is reminiscent of a dust devil, in the desert biome.

Two of Munro’s best-known installations will be re-imagined and re-created for two courtyards: “Field of Light,” featuring 2,800 lighted glass spheres, each rising from the ground on a slender stem; and “Water Towers,” large structures made of recyclable water bottles that glow and change color to synchronized music.

Operating hours for the exhibit will be extended until 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and select Saturdays.
