ANNAPOLIS, Maryland — A new high-tech exhibit that greets visitors to the U.S. Naval Academy provides an in-depth look at the academy grounds and the life of the midshipmen.
The exhibit, which opened in May, is at the entrance to the Halsey Field House on the way to the Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center.
Serving as a “quarterdeck” to the Naval Academy, the exhibit features several interactive screens, including a 20-foot-by-six-foot touch-screen wall map that pinpoints sites around the “Yard.”
Another interactive video screen features midshipmen and recent graduates discussing admissions, academics, midshipmen life and career options.
There are nearly 700 current photos and videos of life at the academy and larger-than-life photography of the academy’s most iconic moments.
The exhibit coincided with the launch of the Naval Academy on Google Street View, which gives the opportunity to explore parts of the Naval Academy before visiting.
