Welcome! Friends, colleagues and those I meet along the way invariably seem to think that traveling the world and reviewing cruises is a wonderful job, but interestingly enough, in addition to the continuing challenges involved with long-distance air travel, over the years fully a quarter of the sailings that I've taken have turned out to be at least partially disappointing, and this year three of the nine I've completed have not met expectations, two if which I'll be describing in GCN Updates during the coming months.

Bob Hoelscher shares his experiences and tips for dealing with travel problems.
Welcome! Last week I interviewed Joelle Davis, Vice President Brand Management for Scenic Luxury Tours & Cruises, at the company's U.S. headquarters in Boston.
Three different cruise lines have announced efforts to eliminate disposable plastics across their fleets among other cruise updates.

Welcome! Having not been at sea since my return from Japan and Alaska in May, I don't have any significant commentary to add this month, although as always, readers will find numerous news items of interest below.
Welcome! In the past, I've wondering in writing how many huge cruise ships in relatively small port towns such as those found in Alaska will be too many.
